For shelters & rescues

Your animals deserve
better than an intake photo.

A full professional portrait session for your adoptable animals, at no cost to you — ever. Sponsors pay for it. You get the photos, the video and the usage rights, and you keep them permanently.

01 / What you get

Everything you need
to post immediately.

  • A full portrait session for your adoptable animals — on location at your facility, or in studio if that's easier.
  • Edited galleries the next day at noon, timed to land when social feeds are busiest, cropped for Petfinder, Adopt-a-Pet, Instagram, Facebook and print.
  • Short vertical video for each animal where time allows — the format that actually travels.
  • Full usage rights, permanently. Adoption listings, fundraising, marketing, print. They're your photos.
  • No cost and no catch. Sponsors fund the session. You are never invoiced and never asked to match anything.

02 / What we need from you

Bring us a room.
We'll bring the rest.

  • A room. Any indoor space roughly ten feet square with a power outlet. A meeting room, an intake room, a garage.
  • Someone who knows the animals. One staffer or volunteer to bring them in and out. They know who's nervous and who's a clown — that's worth more than any equipment we bring.
  • A realistic list. Who's adoptable, who's about to be, and anyone you're struggling to move.
  • Permission to use a few frames in our own portfolio and for our sponsor. Everything else is exclusively yours.

No space at all? That's fine too — see below.

03 / Where it happens

Come to us, or
we'll come to you.

Our studio — College & Spadina

Downtown Toronto

  • A proper studio space with the lights already up
  • Bring a van of dogs, or one at a time over a morning
  • Calm, quiet and warm — much easier on a nervous animal than a shelter hallway
  • Treats, toys and squeakers supplied, obviously

Or on location

Wherever the animals are

  • We pack the studio down and bring it to your shelter
  • Best when animals can't travel, or there are too many to move
  • All we need is a room and a plug
  • Beyond Toronto, travel depends on sponsorship in your region

04 / Straight answers

The questions rescues
actually ask.

Is it really free? Yes. Sponsors fund sessions. You will never receive an invoice and we will never ask you to fundraise for us.

What's the catch? The honest one: applying doesn't guarantee a session. We can only work where we've found a sponsor, so it depends on your region. We'd rather say that than string you along.

How many animals can you do in a day? Typically 15–25, depending on how they handle the room. We'd rather do twenty well than forty badly.

Our animals are reactive or under-socialised. That's normal and it's fine. Twenty years of reading dogs goes into this — we work at their pace, and if an animal says no, we stop.

Can you photograph cats, rabbits, others? Yes. Dogs are the bulk of it, but every species in your care gets the same treatment.

We're tiny / foster-based with no building. Still apply — that's exactly what the studio at College & Spadina is for. Bring them to us.
